Vardah, the cyclone, has destroyed and paralyzed Tamil Nadu after it made the landfall yesterday. The NDRF team has confirmed that at least 10 people have died in different incidents due to the strong cyclone that hit the coastal state. The Vardah has now moved towards Karnataka and is expected to make the landfall in Andhra Pradesh today.
Confirming the death of 8 people, the National Disaster Management Authority Team said that four people from Chennai, two people from Tiruvallur, one from Villupuram and one from Nagapattinam have died due to the cyclone. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Paneerselvam has confirmed that INR 4 Lakhs compensation would be given to the family of victims.
On the other hand, NDMA has set up at least 300 camps and rescued over 10,000 people from the worst ever cyclone in Tamil Nadu in last two decades. The huge rainfall has further created a problem for the people in Chennai and other districts of the state.
NDMA has set 19 different teams to deal with the situation and has released the Cyclone Helpline Numbers to rescue and assist people from the wrath of nature.
