SRHvRPS match in IPL 2016 was totally one sided. Hyderabad team would have never expected the same. Poor batting and rain ended the match 9 overs before and Pune won the match in D/L method. But it was not just a lose for Hyderabad, it was a real set back. Here is why it is massive blow for them.
SRHvRPS Match Summary
The match was delayed due to rain just after the toss when MS Dhoni opted to chase. The moisture on the pitch helped the bowlers and Pune was on fire. Playing first up Ashok Dinda and Mitchell Marsh picked up crucial wickets and checked the run. Sikhar Dhawan remain unbeaten with 53 but rest of the batsmen looked helpless. There was a time when it looked that Sunrisers Hyderabad would not even reach 100 runs. However, late hitting from Bhuveneshwar Kumar ensured that the team reached 118 runs.
Desperate for a win, Pune list a wicket early on as Rahane was sent back. But Australian Skipper Steven Smith was in no mood to compromise and he eased the chase along with Faf Du Plessis. In the 11th over, Pune was on 94 runs and the rain came down heavily. RPS was way ahead in D/L and won the match comfortably when it was called off.
SRHvRPS – Impact
The huge set back for Hyderabad was the net run rate. They still hold the 4th position but another couple of loss and they would be in serious trouble due to the NRR. They now need to win big in coming matches to ensure better prospects for the last 4.
