MIvKXIP looked a routine match where Kings XI looks impressive at the start and then loses the momentum and the match as well. Chasing down a target of 190 runs set by MI, KXIP fell short of 25 runs and remained at the bottom of the table.
MIvKXIP – Match Summary and Highlights
MIvKXIP – Kings XI Punjab looks impressive but not enough
Kings XI Punjab again looked an ordinary team with none of the batsmen looked threatening. Shaun Marsh was again impressive but considering the run chase, more risks would have been appreciated. Glenn Maxwell finally clicked in IPL 2016. He fought and played well for his well deserving half century. However, that was not enough for the Punjab Team. Kings XI was chasing a mammoth total of 190 runs and intent was required. Maxwell stretched but it was too much for him at the end. Even David Millar looked harmless on a wicket that looks perfect for batting. Murli Vijay started well but with the fall of Manan Vohra lost momentum. At the end, Mumbai Indians was too much for Punjab. The chances of Punjab qualifying for the IPL 2016 look very bleak as of now. The team still stands at the bottom of the table with just a single win.
MIvKXIP – Mumbai Indians back on track
Early in the day, David Millar won the toss and invited Mumbai to bat on a batting friendly track in Mohali. It was a dream start for Kings XI who bought Mitchell Johnson in the team. Sandeep Sharma stuck in the second ball of the match to dismiss Rohit Sharma. However, Parthiv Patel and Ambati Rayudu stood for Mumbai for a whopping 137 runs partnership. Jos Buttler scored valuable 24 runs towards the end as MI finished with 189 runs on the board.
