India has won 10 matches whereas drew 2 others and lost one against Australia in the long 13 matches home season. However, this is not the only record that India has set. This is only the 4th time, India has won a series after down and under in the first match of the series. India lost against Australia in the very first match and came back strong to win it 2-1. The previous occasions when India did the same was against England in 1972-73, against Australia in 2000-01 and against Sri Lanka in 2015 at the home series.

India required only 87 runs to win and lost consecutive wickets for 46. However, the captain Rahane and Rahul who have scored six test half-centuries in seven innings in this Test Series took India comfortably in the morning season to seal the victory.

India took a decisive lead of 32 runs in the first innings and then Indian bowlers took control of the match. Australia was largely dependent on Steven Smith and was bundled for mere 137 runs in the second innings. Steven Smith Score defiant innings of 111 for Australia in the first innings to give Australia some hope along with Maxwell. However, the Aussies could not take the advantage of the same and lost the match.
