GLvRCB was one of the best matches of IPL 2016 so far. The heroics, brilliance and the excellent cricket took over the Rajkot Stadium. The maiden century of Virat Kohli may remain the highlight of the match but the combining team effort of Gujarat Lions to chase the target cannot be ignored either.
GLvRCB Match Summary
RCB piled up runs as Kohli scored ton
Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and chose to bat. The pitch was flat and looked heaven for the batsmen. Kohli knew the strength of the team and wanted to score as many runs as possible. Captain led from the front as his golden form continued. Shane Watson joined him for the opening slot and ABD followed. However, Kohli found new partner today to pile up runs. KL Rahul pushed down to 4th position and he scored valuable 51 runs, his first half century in IPL. Kohli remained unbeaten for 100 and scored his maiden century in any T20 format beating his previous 99.
Composed Gujarat looked positive to win the chase
However, the worry was always with the bowlers of RCB. It was down to Shane Watson again as he picked up the first wicket. But all others looked ordinary and did not threat the Gujarat batsmen at all. Baz and Smith started off with flyer and then Suresh Raina and Dinesh Karthik took the team close to the target. It was a big target to chase and GL won the match 3 balls to spare. RCB needs to think about the bowling very seriously and in the absence of Mitchell Starc, they look an ordinary bowling unit.
