Earthquake in Uttarakhand has put everyone in a panic. The high seismic belt of the Himalayan ranges saw tremor of 5.8 rector scale earthquake late night. The tremors were felt at around 10.33 PM. People from houses came out after the 25 seconds to 30 seconds earthquake jolted the State. The Rudraprayag area felt high shockwaves local reports suggest. Rudraprayag was the epicentre of the quake at a depth of 33 KM as per the National Seismological Bureau. The US Geological Survey, however, said that the quake was of 5.6 rector scale.
The earthquake in Uttarakhand has also affected the neighbouring states Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi the most. In the National Capital, people started coming out of the house for safe shelter. However, the intensity of the earthquake in other states was lesser than Uttarakhand.

The Home Ministry has put the NDRF or National Disaster Response Force has been put on high alert. Two teams have already been rushed towards Rudraprayag. As all the Ministers have prayed for the safety of the people, the reports of causalities have not reached. Minor damage to the properties have been informed by local sources at Uttarakhand but no major property loss or damage has been so far reported.
The NDRF teams have been rushed from Ghaziabad to Uttarakhand to conduct rescue and relief operations, if the situation arises.

The Local authorities, however, have not ruled out any possibilities and working to safeguard the life of the people. Uttarakhand is situated at the high seismic activity area and following tremors after Earthquake should not be surprising as well. The authorities are prepared for the challenge, however.
