Etenesh Diro did not win Gold, she ranked just seventh in the 3000 meter Steeplechase Race in heat. Yet, she has raised the standards of the Rio Olympics 2016. She has won hearts, inspired billions and did something that every athlete would be proud of.
Etenesh Diro of Ethiopia started running the 3000-meter steeplechase race and she was leading. Well, in between, she got involved in a tangle with other athletes and lost spikes of her shoes and suffers some injury. But the athlete did something amazing and interesting. The athlete took off her shoes and started running with only one shoe and another barefooted. To the surprise of everyone she finished her chase and ranked seventh in the heat. She ran about half a mile with a single shoe to complete the race.
Many of the athletes were stunned by her passion, dedication, and spirit. She was first not selected for the finals as she ranked mere seventh in the heat. But the passion gave her the reward at the Rio Olympics 2016. Many teams including her Ethiopia team protested against the decision. Finally, the jury considered her for the Final that is to be played on Monday.
