Alistair Cook became the youngest player to score 10000 runs in Test Cricket. The entire world was excited more because; he broke the record of Sachin Tendulkar. Yes, he has broken the record of the youngest batsman to score 10000 runs in some days. He also became the first English batsman to do so. But he hasn’t really come close to Sachin Tendulkar. Alistair Cook has played 229 innings to score these 10000 runs. However, Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara both took only 195 innings to achieve that.
England plays more Test Cricket than India, so when it comes to smashing records in Test Cricket, Alistair Cook has got more Test Matches than Sachin Tendulkar. On the other hand, if the ODI statistics of any England players is considered, then, the less number of ODI matches will be clearly evident.
There is no doubt that Alistair Cook is a consistent batsman for England and he has all the fuel to become one of the best in the world. There is also enough chances that he might break the record of highest Test Runs of Sachin Tendulkar if he continues to play for few more years. But so far, at this moment, he is behind Sachin, and he may need to work more on his cricket to break the mammoth record set by Sachin.
