AIADMK members, party heads, ministers and decision makers were spotted together in Chennai after the TTV Dinakaran middleman issue of bribing the EC came up. The speculations started of possible merger and ouster of VK Sasikala and TTV Dinakaran as well. However, the Finance Minister D Jayakumar came up after the meeting and addressed it was all normal and all the 123 legislators of AIADMK (Amma) are together. However, the current trend of politics in Tamil Nadu has clearly shown that All is Not Well.
Edappadi K Palaniswami, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, once close to Jayalalithaa and now a close aid of Sasikala was missing from the meeting. In the press conference, it was told that he could not attend the meeting and he has been briefed about it. TTV Dinakaran was not in Chennai, so he could not attend the meeting as well. But the meeting was sudden and was to strengthen the unity. Well, one needs to work on the strengthening when there are loopholes.
The recent embarrassing RK Nagar Bypoll Election has left the Sasikala fraction of AIADMK into shambles. The demand for the removal of C Vijaya Bhaskar from the Health Ministry has been vocal. The party had to face real shame and then the deputy General Secretary TTV Dinakaran came into the highlight of bribing Election Commission. These are a cycle of events that are tightening the move of AIADMK (Amma) fraction.
The party members say that they want the two leaves symbol and that is why the sudden meeting was arranged at the residence of P Thangamani. However, did they go for bribing to get the symbol? Well, this could change the politics of Tamil Nadu.
O Paneerselvam and his fraction have shown interest in merging provided VK Sasikala and her family is thrown out of the party. The AIADMK came back to the same stage when MGR died. His wife became the Chief Minister but J Jayalalithaa was the leader who took the charge. However, now, in the crisis of Tamil Nadu politics, it needs a leader, if not, and then AIADMK will be reduced to a party that enjoyed huge popularity once upon a time.
